Extracting and searching chemical reactions from patent documents

On Sunday August 22, 2021, we gave a talk on extracting chemical reactions from patent text and images at the ACS fall meeting. Examples were given for using 3 different extraction algorithms. Searching compounds and chemical reactions is enabled on OntoChem’s SciWalker semantic search platform using a Lucene index as well as the OpenChemLib java based chemistry toolkit. Reaction SMIRKS are used to classify the extracted chemical reactions, based on different Atom-Atom-Mapping toolkits and CDK-Ambit.
