Ontological classification of chemical patents

A first publication describing the classification of chemical patents using OntoChem’s OCMiner® has appeared in the new journal Pharmaceutical Patent Analyst, 2013, 2, 2046, “Ontology-based content analysis of US patent applications from 2001-2010”. Hierarchical concepts from the knowledge domains of chemical compounds, diseases and proteins were used to annotate full-text US patent applications that deal with pharmacological activities of chemical compounds and were filed in the years 2001-2010.
